The Westside football team bounced back in dominant fashion last Friday, defeating Fremont 63-7. The Warriors’ defense made a strong statement in the win, including a 55-yard interception return for a touchdown by senior Eli Johnson.
“Coming from last week’s tough game, we really wanted to show that we’re still a force on both defense and offense,” Johnson said. “We just wanted to come out and prove we can play with the best.”
This week, Westside faces one of its toughest opponents of the season. The Warriors will travel to take on undefeated Elkhorn South, who enters the matchup with a 6-0 record.
“Jaden Sutko is a really good back,” Johnson said. “We’re going to need all 11 guys to play football and make sure he can’t get extra yards.”
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at Elkhorn Stadium. The student section theme is USA.
