Top-seeded Westside continued its dominant postseason run with a 42-7 win over Bellevue West, powered by a standout performance from linebacker Burke Brown.
Brown said the Warriors relied on their defense early as the offense battled cold conditions.
“It was one of those nights where the offense was pretty cold, and it was hard to get going right away,” Brown said. “The defense knew we had to step up, and we did. We trust our offense, and we know if we play well, they’ll meet our standard.”
Westside will host Kearney in the quarterfinals Friday at Phelps Field. Brown said the Warriors won’t overlook the Bearcats.
“Kearney is a really good team. Every year they come into the metro and compete,” he said. “We have a lot of respect for them. They’re big, they’re physical, and they have good quarterbacks and running backs. We just have to play our game and stay in our lane.”
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday.
