About
Welcome to Westside Wired, the student-run news site of Westside High School in Omaha, Nebraska. We have been in existence since 2009. Under the direction of adviser Brett Grell, we apply journalistic practices to every day news coverage. We have received numerous state and national awards and aim to increase our repertoire, level of excellence, and standing within our community throughout the coming years.
Our Mission
At Westside Wired, we believe every voice deserves to be heard. Our goal is simple: keep the Westside community informed, inspired, and connected. We do this by:
-
Reporting news accurately and fairly
-
Highlighting student voices and opinions
-
Celebrating achievements, both big and small
-
Sharing stories that spark curiosity and conversation
Who We Are
We’re a team of student writers, photographers, videographers, and editors — who are passionate about telling stories. Guided by faculty advisors, we cover everything from breaking news and feature stories to sports, video, and multimedia projects. Every story we tell is created by students, for students, and our goal is to make it interesting, relevant, and fun.
