The Westside football team suffered its first loss of the season last Friday, falling to Omaha Central 31-28. The defeat marked Westside’s first home loss in several years, a moment defensive nose guard Graham Hoffart said was eye-opening for the team.
“The loss from Central really taught us not to take any team for granted and not to take winning for granted,” Hoffart said. “We hadn’t lost at home in five or six years, so it made us appreciate those wins and reminded us we need to approach every team the same, stick to the game plan, and practice hard.”
Westside will look to bounce back this Friday when the Warriors travel to face Fremont. The Tigers enter the matchup with a 4-1 record.
“I think it needs to be a good learning experience for us,” Hoffart said. “We need to show the whole state that we’re still in it and still one of the best teams in Nebraska.”
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. The student section theme is camo.
