Megan Moroney has been a top hit country artist since her first album Lucky, in 2023. Since then, she has released the album Am I Okay? (I’ll Be Fine) in 2024 and, most recently her newest album, Cloud 9 on February 20th, 2026. The new album consists of 15 songs and two music videos for the songs “Wish I Didn’t” and “6 Months Later.” Throughout her songs, Maroney describes stories of love, loss, joy, and heartbreak, as she embeds feminist themes for her many young listeners.
For example, track seven, “Liars & Tigers & Bears,” centers around women in the music industry and the conflicting expectations they face. Moroney sings about the bias and unrealistic demands and standards women face, and how she now relates to this on another level after rising to fame. Megan says in this song she is, “straight-up calling out the loser behavior of just constantly comparing successful, great women.”
Track three, “6 Months Later,” is the lead single from the new album, which reached the top 30 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, as well as No. 2 on the Country Airplay chart. Megan Moroney often uses a play of words to cleverly explain situations in her life. In this song, she does that by sharing how she had moved on, overcame a breakup, and found her ex crawling back, with the lyric, “what doesn’t kill you calls you 6 months later.” The song is clearly loved by her fans, as it wonderfully reflects her preppy and confident tone.
Track five, “Beautiful Things,” is inspired by Moroney’s niece. According to Maroney, “The girl that wrote ‘Girl in the Mirror’ [a song from her debut album Lucky,] could have never written ‘Beautiful Things,’ (…) Life sucks sometimes, and if you just keep in mind that the world is hard on beautiful things, you’ll get through it.”
Billboard ranked “Beautiful Things” number one out of the 15 songs on Cloud 9, saying that, “Moroney offers up solace and wisdom to the next generation navigating friendships, love, betrayals, and a desire to fit in (…) [T]his song serves as a timeless musical inspiration and an encouraging hug to help strength young women against life’s cruelties.”
As Megan Moroney continues to grow in popularity and fame, she also spreads positivity in her songwriting. She plans to take Cloud 9 to the next level by touring internationally, including a stop at Nebraska’s very own Pinnacle Bank arena in Lincoln. Fans of Megan Maroney’s previous albums are sure to enjoy Cloud 9, as will other country music fans, and anyone who is in need of empowerment or just a bubbly song to listen to in the car.
