The Swim and Dive program at Westside are set to host their first multi-team invitational at the new Coach Doug Kreklow Pool. The 12 team meet includes many of the state’s top swimmers as they prepare to make their final push with the state meet right around the corner less than a month away.
The boys’ team is led by Junior Spencer Thom, who is sitting on the fastest time in the state in the 50M Freestyle. He swam 21.49 a couple weeks ago at Millard North to put him on the top of the current leader board. Also, Junior Pearson Kratky is having a solid winter with the 3rd fastest 200 Individual IM in Nebraska along with top 10 times in the Fly, Back and Breast. Thom and Kratky are also involved with the fastest Class A Relay times in Nebraska this year. The 200 Free Relay partnered with Murari Sunnam and Jake Jepson where they swam 1:28.04 in December. Jepson, Kratky and Thom swam with Aiden Olsen on the 400 Free Relay where they also own the state’s top time this winter of 3:09.18. Senior Grant Rieser is also a key contributor on the relay teams along with owning the 7th faster 100 Fly time thus far.
On the girls’ side, the Warriors are led by Junior Berkley Gemar and Senior Sadie Rogers. Gemar has the fastest 100M Backstroke time in Class A this season, having swam 56.91 in Lincoln last month. Rogers owns the best Class A time in the 100 Breaststroke with a 1:05.81 at Millard North this month. Gemar and Rogers are also part of the 200-medley relay group (with Lily Gentry and Elizabeth Bender) where they currently have the 2nd best time this winter in A.
Come on out and support our squads. The diving events are Friday, beginning at Noon. On Saturday morning, the swimming portion of the Invite starts at 9:00.
