The squeak of sneakers on hardwood, the sound of the ball being crushed down the line, and the energy of a packed gym – those are the moments that fuel Reagan Siebler. The Westside volleyball team is led by four senior captains. One of them is Siebler, a 5’7 outside hitter, who has recently committed to Edgewood University in Madison, Wisconsin. Siebler has turned years of hard work into a ticket to the next level. This fall, she’s closing out her high school career with one eye on the state tournament and the other on her future at Edgewood University.
“I started playing volleyball in 7th grade when I was 12 years old. However, I grew up watching my sister play and my mom played in college. That was also when I started playing club volleyball. I played at Elite for one year and then switched to Premier my 8th grade year,” Siebler said.
Volleyball has always been around her, but it was not until middle school that Siebler truly stepped onto the court herself. Once she did, the sport became more than just a pastime – it became a passion.
By her sophomore year, Siebler earned a spot on the varsity roster. The timing could not have been better. That was the same year the program welcomed a new coach, Andrew Wehrli, who immediately pushed the team to raise its level of play.
“I have had a great experience with school volleyball. Our coach Andrew came to our program my sophomore year which was when I first made varsity. This team has given me so many friends and great relationships that will be hard to forget,” Siebler said.
Now in her final season, Siebler has a clear vision: extend the season as long as possible.
“My goal for this year is to get as far as possible in our season. I obviously want to win state but I just want to work as hard as possible to prolong out season,” Siebler said.
It is a simple statement, but it reflects her competitive spirit. Winning matters, but so does making the most of every chance to take the floor with her teammates. For Siebler, this year is about savoring the journey as much as chasing the result.
College volleyball was always on her radar, but when it came time to choose, Edgewood University stood out.
“I choose Edgewood University because I already had a connection with the coach. I also knew that I wanted to play at a smaller school while still getting the “college experience” and [Edgewood] is the perfect place for that. Wisconsin is also the perfect distance from home because it is a reasonable car ride away and is still in the Midwest so it feels like home,” Siebler said.
Transitioning to college volleyball will not be easy. The pace is faster, the competition tougher, and the expectations are higher, but Siebler is ready for that challenge.
“My goals for college volleyball is to grow as an athlete and to form great bonds with my teammates and coaches. I am going to work as hard as I can to earn a playing role,” Siebler said.
Her focus is the same as it has always been: put in the work, embrace the grind, and let the results come. As her high school career winds down, one thing is clear, Reagan Siebler’s volleyball journey is far from finished. She will trade her Westside red jersey for Edgewood red but her determination, leadership, and love of the game will remain the same.
