The Warriors faced adversity last Thursday against Elkhorn North, competing without three key contributors—nearly a third of the lineup. Despite being shorthanded, Head Coach Kimberly Miksich’s squad battled hard and came up just short in a narrow 5-4 loss. Senior leaders stepped up, with Troy Shefsky and Taylor Tauber delivering decisive singles wins at the top of the order. Shefsky controlled his match at No. 1 singles, winning 8-4, while Tauber powered through at No. 3 with an 8-3 victory. In doubles play, the Warriors claimed two of three courts, as Haorong Li and Tauber teamed up for a victory at No. 1 doubles, and Shefsky paired with Trey Quigley for another win at No. 3. At the back end of the lineup, Calder Wetjen nearly completed a comeback at No. 6 singles before falling just short, 7-9.
Coach Miksich praised her team’s resilience and their ability to bounce back. Over the weekend, the Warriors reset and returned to action Monday with renewed energy, sweeping Millard South 9-0. “The guys showed great fight,” Miksich said. With momentum building, the team now prepares for a challenging stretch—Elkhorn South on Tuesday, followed by a triangular against Creighton Prep and Lincoln Southeast on Wednesday.
