Among Us was released in June 2018 but has recently gained traction.

Despite it’s anticlimactic release in June of 2018, “Among Us” has recently amassed a large playerbase. “Among Us” is a party game about survival, deceit and sabotage. There are few games like it; however, “Among Us” is packed with twist after twist and provides an experience unlike any other game.

The goal of the game is to find the “imposter” among the crewmates. Players have the choice to vote someone out at the end of each round, risking ejecting their own teammate for the chance to get rid of an imposter. During each game, five to ten players spend their time completing “tasks,” or simple jobs designed to keep their ship safe. These tasks can be located anywhere on the map and range from pushing a button to swiping a card. The locations and objectives are carefully designed to assist both the crewmates and the imposters.

“Among Us” is a wildly enjoyable party game and I have loved playing it recently. Developers InnerSloth LLC have produced a game that is truly like no other. Each player’s experience is controlled by whoever they are playing with, which can be a blessing and a curse. Although most players use the private game feature, “Among Us: also brings a very active public games section. This allows every game to be full, no matter how many players it begins with.

“Among Us: is not free from problems, however. It was developed by a small firm, so the servers are nowhere near the quality of most popular games. This has caused many problems for my experience. Players are constantly disconnecting from the game or are unable to get into the game in the first place. Additionally, the small development team has caused subpar customer service. Updates are not communicated properly and new content has become sparse.

Outside of the problems caused by the servers, “Among Us” has brought an outstanding player experience to the table. “Among Us” never fails to be interesting; it makes each game feel different. I would highly recommend this game to anyone bored this winter.
