Westside head coach Brett Froendt has led the Warriors to the state playoffs for ten straight seasons.

In their final regular season game of the year, the Warrior varsity football team dropped their final regular season game of the year 41-26 to the third -anked Millard South Patriots. With the loss, the Warriors dropped to 7-2 overall, and conceded the District A-5 lead to the Patriots.

The visitors scored five rushing touchdowns on the night, 4 of which would come from senior running-back Isaiah Harris. Harris, already over 1,000 yards on the season, combined for 201 yards on his touchdown runs alone. Defensive Coordinator Justin Haberman said he felt the team might not have fully understood the game plan going into the night, but felt it really came down to tackling.

“He ran well and we didn’t tackle well,” Haberman said. “When you don’t tackle well against a good running back, you’re in trouble.”

W 40 yard touchdown kept Westside within six early in the third. Millard South, forcing him out of the pocket on many occasions, forced payton to make many errant throws including one interception.

Sophomore Miles O’Brien feels that the biggest need for the team is to stay confident and stay upbeat.

“We were really quiet once we were down,” O’Brien said. “We just gotta ride each game out and keep it energetic on the sidelines.”

Next week, the Warriors will begin the NSAA State Playoffs against the Creighton Prep Jr. Jays at home.
