Students who run on caffeine have been excited to try the new drink shop that opened in Elkhorn earlier this month. Hyper Energy Bar is a drive-through cafe that specializes in a variety of energy drinks, coffees, and snacks. The store offers countless flavors, allowing customers to customize the perfect drink.
The first Hyper location in Nebraska was brought to Elkhorn off of N. 181st street. The shop officially opened on Dec. 12 and has been a hit among teens ever since.
Upon arrival, the shop has great ordering accessibility to keep lines short and wait time down. There are two drive-through lanes offered: one on the driver’s side and one on the passenger’s side. The passenger’s side window is great to try if you are coming with friends and cuts the wait time substantially. But if the drive-through lines are looking a bit long, Hyper also offers a walk-up window where you can order on foot.
The only downside of these features is that the shop does not offer any inside seating areas. So if you are looking for a place to get a snack and hang out with friends this may not be the best option for you.
Hyper offers an extensive menu that has something for everyone. Beginning with their signature energy drinks, the shop has nine curated flavors that are offered year-round. Along with these, Hyper also has special seasonal menus that give six more specialty drink combos. If none of these premade combinations seem quite right to you, you can curate your own mix. With over 50 flavors ranging from strawberry to peanut butter, guests can mix and match to their liking.
Other than energy drinks, the cafe has one other form of caffeine: coffee. They offer many of the basics like flavored lattes, cold brews, and chai. But in true Hyper fashion, there are also five specialty curated coffees with additional mixes on the seasonal menus. This offers yet another opportunity for customers to create the perfect drink any day.
Hyper tops off their menu with a few great food options. There are four different flavors of muffin tops including creme brulee. There are also varieties of cake pops and protein bars sold at each location. Even though the food selection is small compared to the endless drink options, these items make the perfect small snack.
For my first visit, I chose to order one of the signature curations. The service was friendly and helpful, and my drink came out very quickly. The price point is very fair and similar to other coffee shops like Starbucks or Scooters. The drink tasted great and I was very happy with my experience. For me the customization and quality make it worth the stop.
Overall, Hyper brings a new exciting caffeine option to Elkhorn. With its quick service, endless customization options, and fun seasonal menus, it has quickly become a popular stop for students and commuters alike. While it may not be the ideal hangout spot due to the lack of seating, it succeeds as a fast pick-me-up destination. For anyone looking to switch up their usual coffee routine, Hyper is definitely worth a visit!
