Busy Track Season Runs on for Westside Team

On Friday, April 26, Westside varsity track team will compete against in the Blair Invite at Blair High School. The following day Millard West is hosting a freshmen invite, which Westside’s track team will compete in. Westside will compete against Millard West. Freshman Jack James participates in the shot put and discus. James has been preparing for meets in a special way.

“I usually listen to music to get into the zone. I also try to zone out distractions out before it’s my turn so I can focus. I think that the more focused I am, the better I will perform when it’s my turn in the meet,” James said.

James has participated in all the meets and will continue working hard.

“ I think that I am performing pretty well as an individual, especially because I am new to the sport and still getting the basics down. I think that the team is performing well, I think we have the potential to be one of the best teams in the state. I think that when focus in practice it shows in the meets. When we are not focused in practices, it definitely affects how we do in meets,” James said.

The next event will be held on Wednesday, April 24 at Benson High School.
