This past Friday, Westside’s varsity track team competed in their first outdoor meet at Millard South. During the  meet on Friday, senior Kiana Bean placed 11th for shot put, and sophomore Koby Bretz placed 6th for the high jump. For the 400 meter run, senior Tyson Guzman placed 5th and freshman Soni Hiner placed 9th. Most competitors have a pregame routine, including senior Dylan Packett.

“Before track meets I just listen to music to get in my zone.  I warm up by stretching but I am still focusing on running. I think it does affect me because it blocks out all the distractions around me and keeps me in my zone,” Packett said.

Track holds multiple events and allows the players to meet new people and along the way.

“I enjoy socializing with other people from different schools and then eventually competing against them,” Packett said.

The next varsity track meet takes on Thursday, April 11, 2019. Westside will compete at Papillion-La Vista South.
