Tomorrow, Saturday April 21, the Sparkles Cheer and Dance team members have a unique opportunity. The participants have been invited to do a “meet and greet” with the Nebraska Cheerleaders, as well as cheer together outside the stadium before the Nebraska Football spring game.
Michelle Hinde, mother of Sparkle team member Brin Hinde, said that both herself and B. Hinde are excited for the opportunity.
”We’ve never been to any of the Husker stuff because we moved from Maryland,” M. Hinde said. “[I’m excited] to feel the crowd and check it out and see what it’s all about.”
Sparkles captain senior Kayla Sonnleitner is not able to attend the event, but is excited for her team to have this experience. Sonnleitner said that Sparkles has been a way to get involved with peers and create friendships.
Hinde said that her daughter has grown a lot from her experience as a Sparkles team member.
“It’s been wonderful for her,” M. Hinde said. “She’s been able to interact with everyone on the team, she’s been able to cheer at games, and she really is coming out of her shell.”
There will be four metro area Sparkles teams cheering at the game this Saturday.
