Weekend Update: Spring Break Edition

Over spring break your Warriors were busy. Girls and boys soccer and baseball had Metros, while Varsity tennis, track and golf all had crutial meets. In addition to sports, Future Problem Solvers participated in State.

Girls Soccer:
After spring break the girls drop from a one loss team to a four loss as they lost both of their games over Spring break. On Friday April, 11, the Warriors lost in overtime in Marian in a 4-3 PK shoot out. They were unable to advance to the third round of Metros. Later in the week, Tuesday, April, 15, the girls played Bellevue West. In a close game the Warriors lost 2-1 with the Warriors’ only goal scored by Kellen Dobry. Finally, on Friday, April 18 the soccer team played Lincoln Southwest in which they lost 1-0 in overtime. The girls are now 7-4 overall.

Boys Soccer:
The boys had a number of close games over spring break. on Saturday, April 12 the Warriors trumpet Millard West in overtime, winning it 2-1 with the final shot put in by Daniel Shonka. On Tuesday, April 15 the boys competed in the Metro finals where they lost 1-0 to Omaha South. On Friday, April 18 the Warriors lost to Lincoln Southwest 4-3 in a shootout. Starting goalie Quinn Nelson received a red card and had to sit out during Mondays match against Papillion-LaVista South. They boys lost 1-0 to the Titans. They are now 7-4 overall.

Baseball:
The baseball team rolled through their spring break as they came up with 8 wins and 0 losses. In addition to the wins, the baseball team won Metros after demolishing Creighton Prep and avenged their opening season loss to Millard West. For a complete list of their games and scores, see below:

Tennis:
The girls varsity tennis team remains undefeated after spring break. On Friday, April 11 the Warriors won their own invite held at Koch Tennis Center. Sydney Harlow won No. 1 singles after beating Marian 6-2 and 6-2  in both of her sets. McKinney and Lizzie Harwood won No. 1 doubles, Phoebe Placzek and Elizabeth Tyler placed 3rd in No. 2 doubles and Liz Kutilek placed 4th in No. 2 singles. On Tuesday, April 15 the girls won their matches against Bellevue West and on Thursday, April 17 the girls also won Kearney’s Double Tournament. McKinney and Lizzie Harwood placed 1st in No.1 doubles, Phoebe Placzek and Elizabeth Tyler placed 3rd in No. 2 doubles, Liz Kutliek and Sydney Harlow placed 2nd in No. 3 doubles and Ashley Tyler and Kathryn Shehan placed 3rd in No. 4 doubles.

Golf:
Boys varsity golf had a successful week as they placed second in the Bellevue West Varsity Invite. Senior Tom Stegman placed 2nd overall shooting a 77 and sophomore AJ Nolin placed 3rd overall shooting a 78.

State FPS:
This past week a few select freshman traveled to Kearney to compete in State Future Problem Solving. Teams work together to answer a hypothetical problem and then act out a skit demonstrating their answer. Below are the results:

4th Place: Team of Kate Alston, Max Goldberg, Mira Veccchio and Katelyn Fisher

6th Place: Team of Alexander Bayles, Zach McCarty and TK Kim

Honorable Mention: Ande Bilyeu, Josh Militti, Jimm Hallgren and Libby Seline
