Netflix vs. School

Netflix is ruining the social lives of high school students one day at a time. Not only is Netflix to blame for bummy social lives, but bad grades as well.

As the year progresses, the motivation to get stuff done tends to drop off the deep-end. Netflix has become a go to site when boredom sets in. Theres nothing like spending your whole Sunday in bed watching shows on repeat. Netflix is a great website when in moderation. But, there comes a time when Netflix can play too big of a role in your life.

As great as Netflix is, there are down sides. Students can sometimes pass up the opportunity to study for an upcoming test or do their homework when instead they watch the next episode of their new favorite show. Noticing that Netflix has become more and more popular, it also has become a bigger issue. Students need to know how to manage their time better.

For starters it’s always good to get your homework done first, then indulge yourself in a little bit of Netflix if there is time. It can be hard to fight through your inner conscious saying, “You’ll be fine. You have time.” But the truth is Netflix should be used as a reward system like a treat for a dog when they do a trick. Because when you get all of your stuff done, and prioritize the things that are most important, watching TV shouldn’t be one of them. So when you finally finish everything that is on the top of your list, it is relaxing to know that Netflix is there for you.

Yes, Netflix can be your best friend sometimes, and occasionally that is all you need. The reality of it is that somethings shouldn’t determine more important things. That bad grade isn’t going to go away until you make it better. So the next time you pick up your phone or computer remember that you could be spending you time doing things that could impact your life later on.
