Religion

For me, growing up did not revolve around church, so does that make me a bad person? There is no right or wrong answer. I was not brought up in a family that went to church every sunday, we didn’t even belong to a church. But that’s all I’ve ever known.

When my parents were kids, they went to church with their families. So what stopped them from making our family participate in going to church? When I would ask my parents why we didn’t go to church it was a rather weird response. They would either say “Well do you want to?  Because we’re not stopping you.” Or something along the lines of “It’s good to let you figure out what you believe in on your own.”

Religion can be such a touchy topic. There are so many conflicts when it comes to religion, just turn on the news. Most conflicts in the Middle East have something to do with religion. Along with many other conflicts around the world.

Topics are being feuded over because of different religious beliefs. Gay rights, abortion, and many other controversial topics are fought over because of religion and what their religion tells them they should and shouldn’t believe in. This is why when talking about religion, it usually needs to be treaded on lightly.

Religion can be a big part of people’s lives. I think that’s great because you’re backing something up because you believe in it. But for someone like me that doesn’t have any influence from any specific religion, it is interesting to learn about all the different religions and their different aspects. What some people think is right you may disagree with. But don’t discriminate just because they have a difference of opinion.

I think believing in what you want is great. That is what makes our world so amazing, the fact that there are so many different ideas and beliefs. What I have taken away from this entire situation over the years with religion is that no matter what you believe in, you should not question it. Because if you question something that you are supporting, do you really believe in it 100%?
