The New iPhone is Here
As of Sept. 10, rumors were put to a stop when Apple released the new iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c and full version of iOS 7. New features have been added with these releases.
“I plan on getting the new iPhone because of all the features” freshman Kaya Miller said.
The iPhone 5s will come in the traditional white and black, but Apple now offers a new color option, champagne. Another new feature is a fingerprint identity sensor, providing more protection for your phone. The sensor allows users to unlock the phone with their fingerprint. There were also improvements to the camera. There is a wider aperture of f2.2, dual LED flash, a 33% increase in light sensitivity and an iSight camera. The new 64-bit A7 chip will allow the phone to run smoothly and more quickly, along with new ultrafast LTE wireless.
“I think it’s going to be sweet because I get to upgrade from the 4s to the 5s,” junior Max Petersen said. “I’m so excited for all the new features especially the slow motion filming.”
Along with the 5s, apple also released the iPhone 5c, a new product Apple is bringing into the technology world. In foreign countries, iPhones are often unsubsidized by the carrier, as they are in the US by AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile, making iPhones significantly more expensive to purchase for users. The iPhone 5c is made of plastic, which makes the cheaper to build, and thus more affordable at an unsubsidized price point. The iPhone 5c comes in a range of colors including coral, yellow, blue, green and white. The 5c has an A6 chip, which is a step down from the 5s. The 5c and 5s are both compatible with new iOS 7 software.
“I think that apple is smart for marketing every aspect of different markets,” senior Sam Jensen said.
iOS 7 is also a change for users. It is the first software with 64-bit technology for a smart phone. The new software boasts a radically different design, for the first time in iOS history, and a plethora of new features. iOS 7 will be available to users of Apple smartphones starting Wednesday, Sept. 18. The iPhone 5s and 5c will be available for purchase Sept. 20.
