On Saturday, January 19, 2018, the 11th edition of the Nebraska Prep Classic will be held at DJ Sokol Arena on the campus of Creighton University.  The schedule is headlined by two primetime games featuring out of state teams: Kansas City Central Academy of Excellence, or Central High, and Denver East, and Westside is slated to go head to Head with Central High. Blue Eagles head coach Darrin Young said that this is in his plans for scheduling as many away game as he could.

“I tried to travel as much as I could,” Young said. “We’re playing a lot of road games.”

Coming into the weekend, Westside has allowed 58.9 points per game and have shut teams down defensively by averaging 4.2 steals and 2.8 blocks. Young said he is looking forward to battling Westside’s defense on Saturday.

“Looking at Omaha Westside, a team that’s a very sound program, it’s going to be different to play a team that is very sound defensively,” Young said. ‘For us, that’s something that we really, really need to embrace.”

The Blue Eagles are coming into Omaha with an 11-5 record on the season. Young said there are a lot of things going well for his team so far.

“We have done a good job of becoming a better defensive team,” Young said. “And we’ve done a much better job of just being efficient on offense. We don’t take a lot of bad shots.”

The Warriors and Blue Eagles will go toe-to-toe in the co-main event of the Nebraska Prep Class on Saturday, January 19, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. at DJ Sokol Arena.
