On Frida,y October 19th, senior Ethan Goldner and the girls varsity cross country team competed in the NSAA State Cross Country Championships at Kearney Country Club. Goldner once again reached the podium, while the girls team ran well but didn’t place.

Goldner finished second place at the meet being edged out by Liem Chot of Lincoln North Star. Chot finished with a time of 16:08.8 while Goldner finished with a time of 16:19.5. Goldner was a consistent runner throughout the year as he finished near the top of almost every meet.

Westside’s girls’ team had a rather unsuccessful day, the Warriors finished last in overall team score and did not have a runner finish within the top 40. Notable finishes for the Warriors were freshmen Reese Young-Oestmann who finished 44th overall, and Noelle Abels who finished 49th. Nonetheless, girls cross country did qualify for state as a team,

Ethan Goldner is expected to apply for the Nike Regional Championships held in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The race takes place on November 11th and will likely be the last race of Goldner’s high school career.  The girls’ season has come to a close, but Westside Cross Country will return for the 2019 season starting in late August.
