The Westside Warriors tennis season kicked off this Thursday with a match against Papillion LaVista.  Back at the helm as head coach, Jordane Warkentin speaks with confidence and excitement for the 2018 season.

“We have 4 returning state players,  Jake Bonnet, Ethan Forecade, Ryan Vester, and Justin Solheim, who will all do remarkable things” Warkentin said. “As far as leadership goes, I’d expect these guys to fill that role and lead our younger guys down the right path.”

Along with 5 former state qualifiers, the team is adding two Freshman to the varsity roster.

“We have two Freshmen Josh Rosenblatt and Clark Rue who are both showing lots of potential.  I think they should have a big impact on the state lineup as well,” Warkentin said.

After finishing in the opening round of state last season, Warkentin has high expectations from a team that she believes is showing a lot of promise.

“Our goal for the season is to finish top 10 in the state, and to see improvement from our younger players. The boys have been working hard this past offseason, with camps and a clinic here at Westside. I’m excited to see how that translates to the season and to see improvement from everyone,” Warkentin said.

The team dropped their first match to Papillion-La Vista, 6-3. The match was highlighted by wins from Josh Rosenblatt (8-6), Justin Solheim (8-6), and Josh Siegel (9-7).
