Restaurant Review: Three Happiness Express
Three Happiness Express is a recently reopened Chinese restaurant, located on the corner of 51st and Leavenworth. Despite suffering a tragic fire that destroyed a lot of the restaurant’s real estate, they have popped back up and are currently offering take-out only. Three Happiness Express is very popular among Omaha residents and visitors alike.
I sampled several items from Three Happiness Express, including the teriyaki chicken and fried rice. This dish featured fried chicken and broccoli topped with a sweet teriyaki sauce resting on a bed of fried rice. I enjoyed this dish a lot. The teriyaki sauce is tangy and sweet, complimenting the breaded chicken well. The broccoli provided a nice contrast to the sweet sauce and the rice brought the whole dish together.
The next dish I tried was the vegetable fried rice with pan-fried tofu. This dish contains a medley of vegetables, along with fried rice and tofu. I personally didn’t like the texture of the tofu, but the flavors were all phenomenal. The vegetables were delicious, as expected, and the rice did not disappoint. Although I wasn’t a fan, tofu lovers would undoubtedly enjoy this dish.
The final dish I tried was the chicken lo mein. This dish consisted of seasoned noodles with chicken and carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms, bamboo, zucchini, celery, onions and napa cabbage. I really enjoyed this dish. The dish was very flavorful and had a hint of spice to accent each bite. The vegetables provided a delicious combination of flavors and textures to top off the dish. This dish was my favorite out of the three I tried.
The best part of Three Happiness Express, in my opinion, is the price of each entree. Every dish is between seven and ten dollars and packs a huge portion. Not only is the food delicious, it is very affordable. For just a few dollars, you can get dinner and tomorrow’s lunch without feeling bad about the quality of the food.
I would highly recommend paying a visit to Three Happiness Express. I really enjoyed my visit, despite being unable to dine-in, and got a delicious meal. Although it was very busy, the service was still good and I got my food quickly. After my meal, I can say that Three Happiness Express is without a doubt my favorite Chinese restaurant in Omaha.
