The Westside varsity basketball teams hosted the Millard South Patriots on Friday, December 7, 2018. Behind 24 points from Jayme Horan, the Patriots came on top in the girls game, 48-42. However, the Westside boys team was able to top Millard South, 59-31, behind junior Jadin Booth’s 18 points.

The varsity boys basketball team got off to a hot start from the floor as they took a 29-12 lead into halftime. Coach Simons said this week that Millard South’s zone would be tough, but junior forward Carl Brown said after the game that he thought it didn’t slow down the Warriors.

“We’ve neem preparing all week for this zone,’ Brown said. “We shot it better than we did against North Star [last week].”

After being held to 38 points from the field against Lincoln north Star in last week’s opener, the team made adjustments that Brown said were needed in order to improve to 3-0 tonight.

“The zone here wasn’t really as effective as North Star,” Brown said. “Millard South, they did a good job but were kind of flying around sometimes.”

The Westside varsity basketball teams will be back in action on Saturday, December 8, 2018, when they travel to Norfolk with the girls beginning at 4:15 p.m.
