Week in Review 3/14-3/21

Boys Soccer

The boys soccer team had their first game of the year on Saturday against Skutt Catholic high school. The team won the game 3-1 with two goals from sophomore Peter Novoa and one from senior Joe Fehr off a corner kick. Their next game is Tuesday March 22 against Omaha Central.

Track and Field

The boys track team competed at the Concordia indoor invite. After a strong performance from the athletes, the boys won the meet as a team. Individually, the team gained points starting with senior Michael Merical finishing fifth in the 200 meters and first in the 400 meters. As well, senior Sam Frankel placed fourth in the 400 meters, junior Milo Greder was first in the mile, senior Jakob Phillips was first in the two mile, senior Abdi Abdinaser placed first in the 800 meter and the 4×800 meter relay team won as well. The team’s next meet is Monday March 28 at the University of South Dakota.

Girls track traveled to Seward this Saturday for their first meet for the Concordia Indoor Invite as well. In the 200 meters sophomore Jaylen Knight placed fourth and in the two mile junior Megan Algya placed second and sophomore Marta Hailu placed sixth. Junior Dekyah Rosemond, junior Jessica Paprocki, sophomore Quinn Weidemann, and sophomore Tabitha Guyett placed third in their 4×400 Relay. To finish off the great weekend for girls, senior Grace Ward, Paprocki, junior Taylor Brtek, and Weidemann placed first in the 4×800 Relay. The girls next meet is Monday March 28 at the University of South Dakota.

Baseball

Boys baseball had their first season game Friday at home against Millard West. The boys struggled to find their groove and lost 8-0 to the Wildcats with only three hits the whole game.  The team was supposed to play Lincoln Northeast and Lincoln Southwest the following day but the games got rescheduled due to weather. The boys will play Lincoln Northeast tonight and Lincoln Southwest this Saturday March 26.
