The girls varsity soccer team continue their season fighting to host their districts in a few weeks.

“We have what it takes to go all the way [in state], not just skill wise, but team chemistry wise as well,” Senior Summer Khalil said.

Although their undefeated season came to an end against class B third ranked Omaha Skutt on Tuesday the Warriors still put up a good fight. The girls just couldn’t get one in the net resulting in a final score of 2-0 Skutt.

“Our season is going great, playing up to our 6th game being undefeated is a huge accomplishment. Even the best teams don’t go undefeated all season. This being said, when a team loses it shows the true winner by how they pick themselves up and come back from a loss.” Khalil said

The Warriors also faced Papillion La-Vista in a normal season game on Monday and won 2-0, with two goals from Khalil.

Their season is now 7-1.

“I think we have been playing together really well. We had a tough loss against Skutt but every team has their off games and I think that game is going to push us to do better for the rest of the season,” Junior Leah Miller said.

The girls entered their metro tournament Thursday, April 10 and came out with a 1-0 win against Bellevue West. The one goal scored was assisted by Grant, bounced off the post, and headed back in by Ward. With this win they will move on to face number one ranked Omaha Marian Friday April 11, at 7pm at Norris Middle School.

“I think that were all really excited to play marian because it’s a game that we’ve been working for all season and we can show what we can do and prove that were good enough to beat them” Miller said.
