In the Warriors last meet before Metros, they had a tough dual at Millard West with mixed results.

First, the team went up against Burke. Although the team lost 54-18, sophomore Drew Sorrell in weight class 103, sophomore Jacob Kent and senior Brady Novak in weight class 170 won their respective matches. Next, the Warriors faced Lincoln Southwest, but ultimately lost 58-9, with only two winners in junior Casey Schroeder and senior Ismail Hamze in weight class 182. Then, the Warriors faced the host team Millard West, and while sophomore Bryce Confer-Wood for weight class 120, Kent, Sorrell and Novak had wins, the team still lost 49-24.

After that string of losses though, the Warriors were able to bounce back. The team first beat Ralston 54-18 with five pins by sophomore Dawson McAdams in weight class 126, Kent, Schroeder, senior Ben Huss in weight class 160 and senior Ismail Hamze in weight class 182. It then faced its last opponent, DC West, and won 48-16.

After these duals, head coach Mike Jernigan was pleased with how things are moving along.

“We get three guys back, and I feel a thousand times better going into Metros,” Jernigan said. “Brady Novak’s healthy, Jacob Kent’s healthy and Dylan Sorrell’s on his way back, and JV guys stepped in and wrestled well.”

After the positive results from Millard West, the Warriors next meet will be Metros at Omaha North High School, Friday and Saturday Jan. 17 and 18.
