Westside vs. Omaha South Preview

The No. 2 Westside Warriors handled Millard South last week to a tune of 47-0. The Warriors handled the potent Patriots offense and held them to 102 yards of offense. This week the Warriors will square off with the Omaha South Packers.

For the second straight week senior Tom Young will move to guard to replace injured senior Henry Dobson. Junior Connor Flairty will once again take Young’s place at left tackle.

“Our line has looked good since Henry has been hurt,” said head coach Brett Froendt. “Connor Flairty got his first start last week, and we moved the ball well, however, we are going to need Henry back because he is such a big part of our line.”

Flairty and the Warriors should have no trouble putting up points on the South defense, which has given up 273 points over six games. Senior Christian Hagan will look to continue his recent hot streak. Hagan totaled 250 passing yards and 3 td’s against Millard South.

On the other side of the ball the Warriors will have to contain South quarterback Tajai Graves. Graves leads the team with 107 total yards passing. But, turnovers have been a problem for the Packers. The team has thrown 12 interceptions on the year, with 9 coming from Graves.

The Warriors forced Millard South’s quarterback Anthony Cloyd into his fourth interception of the year. That interception was the 5th interception on the year for the 3rd ranked Warrior defense.

The Warriors will look to continue their undefeated season and move to 6-0. With a win they would also improve to 3-0 in their district.

The game is at Westside. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. The weather forecast looks to be clear and chilly during the game.
