The threat of an attack by North Korea has been in the forefront of everyone’s heads for the past few weeks. The one thing that has kept the people of the United States calm, is the idea that North Korea does not have the weapon-power to launch a rocket far enough into our country. However, this is actually a false statement. In early December, North Korea launched a satellite into orbit. A normal satellite is not enough to scare other countries or the United Nations, but this satellite used the same technologies that is found in long-range missiles. To me, it seems like people have forgotten that there was a satellite launch and that they do have the technology to launch a missile far enough to reach the United States.
In fact, it is believed that North Korea will launch a missile, long, medium, or short-range, any day now. South Korea has reported that multiple “Musudan” missiles have recently been moved to the North Korean east coast, allowing them an easier launch site. The Musudan missile has a big enough range to threaten both Japan and Guam, which houses several United States military bases. This is a bad situation and it becomes even worse because no one knows for sure what missiles they have in their arsenal. For all we know, they could have made a nuclear warhead that has the capabilities to reach the United States and cause mass destruction. There is also the chance that if they begin launching missiles into other countries, a third World War could begin.
