Singer and songwriter, Jake Bugg, has gained popularity in the United States with his recently released EP. His first full length self-titled album hit the stores in the States Apr. 9, after receiving much praise from European fans.
You can tell Bugg grew up on influences from musicians like Bob Dylan and The Beatles with his blues-rock style and unique vocals. He will be playing multiple music festivals this year, including many in the U.S. like Coachella and Lollapalooza. After playing huge music festivals like this, artists usually gain more publicity, and I believe Bugg will be subject to this popularity boost. The eighteen year old also gained hype over his song “Lightning Bolt” that is featured in the newest Gatorade commercial.
Bugg is frequently compared to Bob Dylan through his poetic lyrics and European, care-free style. However, as much as I love Bob Dylan, I think Bugg will create a name for himself within the next few years. His relatable lyrics and catchy tunes are enough to carry him to the top of the charts (of real music).
