Most teams plan their selection Sunday spot weeks in advance. They all get together to watch their fate be decided by the selection committee and publicized by four ESPN analysts that have the inept ability to turn what should be a 30 minute program, into hours of “coverage”.
One team, however, had a little bit of a different situation. The St. Louis University mens basketball won the Atlantic 10 championship in Brooklyn, NY and were rushing to the airport in order to get to a TV and see what seed they got. Unfortunately, they got stuck in traffic. So they did what any educated college boys would do and pulled into a Best Buy. An employee took the 30 or so players into the Magnolia room where there was a large TV, usually used by potential customers, and turned on the program for them. SLU made it just in time to see that they were going to be seeded fourth. In the end they were able to have the traditional viewing party and cheer for their potential success in the tournament.
They proceeded to help clean up the room and move the chairs back, and the employees said they were very respectful and nice. The team got back on the bus and made their flight home.
