Dennis Rodman made national news recently when he traveled to Pyongyang, North Korea and became the first known American to meet with leader Kim Jong Un. Kim took over the country in 2011 after his father died. He is known to be one of the worlds most oppressive leaders and has recently disregarded United Nations sanctions by building up their nuclear arms and missile programs, saying that they are aimed at the U.S.
However, when Rodman came back to the United States, he reported that the last thing that Kim wants is war. “He wants Obama to do one thing: Call him. He said, ‘If you can, Dennis – I don’t want [to] do war. I don’t want to do war.’ He said that to me.” Rodman told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos
Rodman has also been quoted saying “You know, he’s a good guy to me. Guess what? He’s my friend. I don’t condone what he does … [but] as a person to person – he’s my friend.”
The real question is, why invite Dennis Rodman? Well apparently Kim is a huge basketball fan. He invited the entire Harlem Globetrotter team to play in an exhibition game against Koreon players. Also, because he loved the 1990’s Bulls Championship team, and Dennis Rodman is the only one from that team crazy enough to meet him.
Rodman has not retracted any of his accolades for the leader since he has been back in the states and says he plans to visit there many more times. Good to know that Dennis Rodman has more information about potential threat North Korea, than any member of the CIA. Promising.
