Recently the administration decided to reenforce the policy of no outside food and drink coming into school.
The reasons given were:
1. There are plenty of options here
2. Not fair to bring in food and share with some people and not others, or not to share with anybody at all.
My first question is what’s the difference between bringing in food for lunch and this policy? How do you enforce a policy where the lines are blurred? Also why decide to enforce a policy about food when there are plenty of other important things that the administration could focus on enforcing besides what food is being brought into the building.
If its not fair to bring in food that we can’t share with everyday how is it fair to wear clothes not everyone has, or carry backpacks not everyone gets. Should students with better phones not be able to bring those in to make sure everything is fair? Something I firmly believe is life’s not fair. Some people are born with advantages and others with disadvantages. This is just something people have to deal with.
