Yes, they are building a second Titanic because the first Titanic just wasn’t enough. An Australian billionaire named Clive Palmer decided to finance the building of a new replica of the Titanic. It should be ready to board in the year 2016. Not very many people are worrying about the ship sinking though since they are offering anywhere from $750,000 to $1,000,000 to rent a cabin during it’s maiden voyage. But after the recent cruise ship fiasco with the Carnival cruise ship Triumph, I do not know why anyone would be jumping at the chance to go on a cruise ship and possibly get stuck on the ocean for five days without power or a working sewage system.
Don’t get me wrong, I do think that recreating the Titanic is a very cool idea and I wonder why no one has financed the building of a replica before this point. This new ship will have air conditioning unlike it’s original but the design and layout of the ship will be the same. However, the group who is to build the Titanic II said it will be the “safest cruise ship in the world”. That sounds oddly similar to what they said about the first ship that hit an iceberg, sank, and became the storyboard of one of the most well-known movies of all time. I would say that there is no chance of the Titanic II hitting an iceberg, but I can’t because they are taking almost the exact same route as the original Titanic. Hopefully they choose to set sail during a warmer time of year this time around and miss any icebergs that had been created. But with global warming, there probably won’t be any icebergs in the Atlantic for them to hit anyway.
