A surgeon in Omaha is turning fat into a anti-aging face cream. The fat is harvested during a liposuction procedure, and is then stored. The idea behind the procedure is that fat has stem cells in it, which are regenerative. After the fat is harvested it is currently shipped to New York and stored at a lab. Once it is at the lab, they are able to grow more cells and send the patient a shipment of the cream once a month. But, it’s not the same cost as using a drugstore cream. In fact it costs about $1,500 a month. And, it is not covered by insurance so the patient must pay for the entire process.
I don’t know how many people would like to have a face cream made out of their own fat. Some people might go to extreme measures to regain their youth. While this new method is gaining popularity on the coasts, it has yet to catch on in the midwest. They might not like the idea of having their fat rubbed all over their face every day to look just a few years younger. With this, the patient is not guaranteed to experience lasting results. Because it is a fairly new procedure, they do not know how long the results last. The results of using the cream might not last for ten years, and you must continue to do it for the rest of your life.
