Playing a sport in college is a dream shared by many high school athletes, but only becomes true for a few. On Wednesday, Feb. 6, six Westside athletes committed to the colleges of their choice. One of these athletes was Harrison Jordan.
Jordan was offered a “once in a lifetime” walk-on position at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln.
A walk-on is a player who receives the same benefits of a scholarship player, but has to pay tuition. Although Jordan had scholarship offers from other schools, there was one reason why UNL stood out among the rest. “I have always been a Husker fan and it has always been a dream of mine to play for Nebraska,” Jordan said.
Although he is moving on to college football, Jordan will never forget who helped him succeed in achieving his goals. “I just want to thank my coaches for getting me as far as I have gotten.” Jordan said.
Along with Jordan, 5 other players also signed on Wednesday. Cory Curfman signed to play football at Hastings, Josh Payne, Brandon Sladek and Jacob Koester all signed to play football for Benedictine and Ali Sodal signed to play soccer for Midland.
