The African Culture Connection is a group that was awarded with the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award last month. First Lady Michelle Obama presented them with the nations highest honor for after-school arts and humanities programs. ACC’s Artistic Director Charles Ahovissi and Victoria Beaugard, who is involved in Girls Inc, were recognized at the White House ceremony.
ACC’s motive is to provide artistic and cultural experiences to the educational public in Nebraska and Iowa.
Westside high school hosted the ACC to perform a workshop for Westside community school’s third graders. The performance took place Dec. 6 in the auditorium.
