Child Stars

Child+Stars

Are childhood stars cursed? Looking back they haven’t had the best track record. Stars like Demi Lovato and her stint in rehab and slapping one of her back up dancers across the face don’t bode well for the beloved children’s networks such as Disney Channel. When you hear Disney star most people immediately think of Miley Cyrus. Boys loved her and girls wanted to be here. People of all ages lined up to go see Hannah Montana: the Movie. Then one unfortunate pair of scissors took off her gorgeous hair and from there things seemed to spiral out of control. She was caught with drugs, having problems with her long-term boyfriend, and generally not caring about anything. She would go out in public with barely any clothes on and sticking out her tongue like nobody’s business. Plus, nobody can forget her performance at the VMA’s.

So, are they cursed? I don’t think they are. I think these childhood stars fell into a luxurious life style and started bad habits that became harder and harder to break. Ultimately, they controlled how they would live their lives. No one forced them to turn to drugs or walk around without clothes on. Example being Hilary Duff. No one can forget Lizzie McGuire. Here you have a Disney star who chose not to board the crazy train. Instead, she laid low without being forgotten, met and married a hockey player, then had a son to complete her family. She wan’t cursed. None of them are. They are the ones making the conscious decisions that they do.
