This past week, students from Westside journalism traveled to San Antonio for the JEA/NSPA National Fall convention. Speakers covered a variety of topics ranging from social media to yearbook layout. Journalism instructors Matt Rasgorshek and Nathan Moseley both spoke at the convention as well.

Students competed in different events at the convention, or brought in something they had produced this year.

Emily Glazer and Laurel Oetken – Honorable Mention for Broadcast Package

Ally Stark – Superior Rating- Photo Story

Jordan Meradith – Excellent Rating- Literary Magazine Layout

Eva Phillips – Excellent Rating – News Magazine Layout

As a group, Westside’s publications placed in the Best of Show competition:

Warrior Television – 6th place in the Best of Show Broadcast category

Craze – 3rd place in Best of Show Newspaper Special Edition Category

Lance – 8th place in Best of Show Newspaper Category
