#1 Westside vs Papillion-La Vista South | Westside Varsity Football Preview & Livestream
Week four of Westside varsity football is set to take place this Friday, September 18th at 7 pm against the Papillion La-Vista South Titans. The Warriors are 3-0 coming into this week’s game with win’s against Creighton Prep, Kearney, and Papillion La-Vista. Westside has held those teams to a total of 32 points throughout those three games. With the Titans having three losses so far this season they are going to be looking to bounce back up against the top-ranked Warriors. Westside is going to have to attack the ball early and execute the plays to come out on top.
“I think improvements could be made anywhere and everywhere but, I think the main improvement we need to make and we are working on getting our momentum at the beginning of the game. And not waiting until the second quarter to start picking up our momentum and getting downfield,” Senior Taylor Bruber said.
During the past three games, Westside has started the game off slow but has attacked in the second and third quarters. One of Westside’s goals for this game is to really start off the game strong and gain momentum early.
“I think improvements have been made everywhere we are more sure than we were. We are on point, we’re making connections more than the beginning, overall getting that click together and improving strength and playing football,” Bruber said.
Bruber expressed that since their first game they have made many improvements, with executing the plays and making connections in the field.
“We are fortunate that we have tremendous athletes and the game plan that coaches came up with and the kids are the ones executing it,” said Defensive Coordinator Justin Haberman.
The game plan has worked for the Warriors resulting in 3 blowout wins. The athletes the Warriors have this year are top of the line with four D-1 commits. However, for Coach Haberman, his players’ time off the field is what has made this team what it is.
“They are spending time in film. They are spending time studying the game plan. That is what makes us great, not individual players,” said Haberman.
Friday’s matchup will kick- off at 7 p.m. at Foundation Field Westside looks to stay undefeated.
