Westside Swim Team Wraps Up Season at State Meet
The swim season has wrapped up for both the boys and girls swim teams as they had their final state meet on Saturday, Feb 23. The girls team finished their season with a 6th place finish, and the boys team were runners-up for the state title.
On the girls side, junior Annika Wilmers said she was very content with how the season went this year.
“I would consider this a very successful high school season for me and the team. Making it to state every year is my number one goal and I did. For the team, we broke records and had an uncountable number of personal bests. I couldn’t be more proud of my team,” Wilmers said.
For Wilmers, that was her junior season and she is now going into her senior year. She explained what her thoughts are going into her final season as a warrior.
“I can’t wait for my senior year, this will be my last season so I hope to make it the best one. Of course, I am going to miss the current seniors with all my heart but I think we will have another super successful season and I can’t wait to see what it has in store,” Wilmers said.
On the boys side, senior Jackson Hanus’ career is now over. Hanus said that he enjoyed his time as a Warrior swimmer.
“I would describe my 4 years as amazing. Each year was so different and fun in its own way and I’ve had so much fun at meets and practices and meeting new friends and people,” Hanus said.
