Week in Review 4/11-4/18

Baseball

The boys baseball team played competed in the metro tournament Friday April 15, playing two games that night. The Warriors controlled the first game, beating Omaha Burke 4-1, though struggled to find the same results in their second game of the double-header versus Papillion-La Vista. Westside faced a quick deficit as they gave up two runs in the first inning and another in the third. Fortunately, they climbed their way back in as they brought home three runners in the fourth inning. In the sixth, Papillion-La Vista scored the eventual game-clinching run and took the game in a 4-3 victory. This loss put the Warriors at 6-12 on the season. Their next game is Tuesday April 19 at Omaha Northwest.

Boys Golf

Boys golf only competed once last week, Monday April 11 at the Millard South Invitational. Overall the team placed sixth with senior AJ Nolin placing tenth individually (83). The team was scheduled to play Thursday April 14, though the meet was called off due to smoke. Their next meet is Monday April 18 at the Creighton Prep Invitational at Champions Run.

Girls Tennis

The girls tennis team participated in the Kearney doubles tournament last Thursday. The team didn’t have it’s best showing, but in number one doubles, senior Lizzie Harwood and junior Ashley Tyler placed third. Their next match is against Papillion-LaVista South tomorrow at 4:30 at Westside.

Track

The boys track team competed in the Titan Classic this past Friday at Papillion-LaVista South high school, placing fourth overall. Individual placements are below:

Michael Merical: first in 400 meter dash, second in 200 meter dash, third in 4×400 meter relay.

Sam Frankel: third in 4×400 meter relay, fourth in 400 meter dash,.

Milo Greder: first in 800 meter run, first in 1600 meters, third in 4×400 meter relay

Jakob Phillips: second in 4×800 meter relay, third in 4×400 meter relay, fifth in 3200 meters

Alec Reilly: sixth in 1600 meters

Abdi Abdinasar, Trevor Mumford, Sam Madson: second in 4×800 meter relay

Brian Timmons: sixth in shotput

The girls team competed in the Titan Classic at Papilion-LaVista South as well. They placed sixth in the meet. Individual placements are below:

Jaylen Knight: first in 100 meter dash, first in 200 meter dash, second in 4×100 meter relay

Nachia Olsen: sixth in 100 meter dash, second in 4×100 meter relay

DeKyah Rosemond: fifth in 400 meter dash, fifth in 300 meter hurdles, third in 4×400 meter relay

Megan Algya: sixth in 3200 meters

Carlee Guyett: second in 4×100 meter relay,

Tabitha Guyett: second in 4×100 meter relay, fourth in long jump,

Caroline Leibel, Anya Ford, Jessica Paprocki: Third in 4×400 meter relay

Taylor Schendt: fourth in discus

Candace Quaites: sixth in discus

The next meet for both teams is Thursday April 21 at Lincoln High.

Girls Soccer

The girls soccer team started their week with a rematch against Bellevue West on Monday. The team kept things close, but ultimately lost 1-0. They then played Lincoln Southwest on Thursday. Although the team was down 1-0 in the first half, they came back with two goals from freshman Ryley Nolin and sophomore Baylee Seaman. Their next game is tonight at 5 pm against Marian for senior night.

Boys Soccer

The boys soccer team had two games last week. Their first game was against Millard South high school. The boys won after 7-6 after PK’s with two goals from sophomore Peter Novoa and one from senior Joe Fehr. Their next game is tonight against Papillion-LaVista high school at 7 pm.
