National signing day
Each year, athletes all across the nation sign their letters of intent to play their respective sports at the next level. While signing day was Feb. 3, Westside held a special ceremony for the eight athletes signing for the 2016 school year. Below is a quick profile of each athlete.
Braxton Anderson

Why NMSU: “The family atmosphere was real there, you always hear schools say that they have a family atmosphere but you actually felt it at Northwest and also the chance for a championship is always there.”
Cameron Cote

Mitchell Hagan
Sport: Baseball

Why Tulane: “I went down to the camp, and I know a lot of schoolmates down there as well as their families. I knew about Tulane and so I went down to their camp, enjoyed the city and school. Loved the coaches so I really couldn’t go wrong, and felt confident.”
Taylor Harden
Sport: Football
College: Southwest Minnesota State University
Why SMSU: “I chose SMSU because of a few factors. They are giving me a shot to start as a true freshman, the coaches respect me as an athlete, a person, and a student, they are an up and coming program, and lastly, SMSU is allowing me to excel in my major.”
Grant Jordan
Sport: Football
College: University of Nebraska
Why Nebraska: “It’s always been a childhood dream to play for the school that represents your state playing on every Saturday. I also thought of choosing that school because my older brother plays there, and I thought it would be a fun opportunity to play with him because I’ve never had the chance to before.”
Spencer Jordan
Sport: Football
College: University of Nebraska
Why Nebraska: “They treat everyone like a family there, even if you’re a walk-on player or a scholarship player, you’re all equal as one.”
Brian Timmons

Why CMU: “It’s where I felt at home, because I’ve been there the most and had the most experience with their team and that’s the best place for me to go and thrive.”
