Week in Review 1/25-2/1

Wrestling

The wrestling team had a busy week with three meets. They started the week on Wednesday with a dual at Ralston, which the team lost 42-28. Their next meet was a dual for senior night on Friday against Nebraska City. The Warriors ultimately lost the meet 53-25. Their final meet of the week was a tournament at Boone Central. The team finished ninth overall, with a solid showing from the whole team. Freshman Michael Colling finished seventh in 106 weight, freshman Elijah Marburg placed 8th in 113 weight, senior Drew Sorrell placed third in 126 weight, freshman De’Andre Hill placed seventh in 138 weight, junior Darlando Hill placed first in 170 weight and junior Kobee Brewer placed third in 285 weight. The team’s next meet is districts in Grand Island on Feb. 13.

Girls Swimming

The girls team started out the week on Tuesday at Millard West. They lost the meet 124-61 with senior Elizabeth Amato-Hanner winning the 100 back and 200 individual medley. Then, on Saturday the team placed second in the Warrior Invite. The team had a strong performance with freshman Laina Bayles winning the 1000 and 500 free, Amato-Hanner winning the 100 fly and back and the 400 free relay winning as well. Their next meet is Tuesday Feb. 9 at Westside against Ralston.

Boys Swimming

The swim team had two meets this week, one at Millard West on Tuesday and the Westside Invite on Saturday. At Millard West the team lost 107-78, but there were solid individual performances. Sophomore Paul Schmidt won the 100 back, junior Stephen Amato-Hanner won the 200 individual medley, sophomore Jackson Hanus won the 500 free and the 200 medley relay team won as well. At the Westside Invite, the team won with 437 points. Individually, Hanus won the 1000 free. Their next meet is Tuesday Feb. 9 at Westside against Ralston.

Girls Basketball

The girls played against Omaha Northwest and Kearney this week on Tuesday and FridayOn Tuesday, girls played at home and earned a solid win of 65-49. On Friday the girls took a long drive to Kearney and unfortunately lost to the Bearcats 60-51. The girls next game will be Friday Feb. 5 at home against Lincoln North Star.

Boys Basketball

To end the month of January, the boys had two games on Tuesday and FridayOn Tuesday the boys played Omaha Northwest at home. Bratton contributed to 25 points to help the team win 72-53 against the Huskies. On Friday the team played against Kearney at Kearney. Despite the long drive, the boys pulled ahead of the Bearcats and won 61-48. The boys next game will be Friday Feb. 5 at home against Lincoln North Star.
