Freshman Mike Hickey is the only Westside golfer advancing from districts to the state tournament. Hickey, who is the first Warrior competing at state golf since 2011 finished tenth overall with a score of 84.

“I just tried to not get overwhelmed by the pressure of districts and stick to my game and what I’ve done all year,” Hickey said.

Hickey’s goals will be similar at the state tournament.

“I’m trying to put up a good round for my first year,” Hickey said. “I’m just excited I get to play in it and show what I can do.”

Head coach Brett Froendt encourages Hickey’s achievement.

“I expect him to compete hard,” Froendt said. “I’m proud he’s there and representing Westside.”
