Girls Soccer: Season Wrap Up

Westside Girls soccer had another quick exit from the state tournament following their 1-0 loss to Marian in the first round. It was the Warriors third straight opening game exit, this time at the hands of the defending state champions.

A last minute first half goal gave the Crusaders the lead they wouldn’t relinquish. Westside nearly equalized with 17 minutes left but senior Mary Novoa’s goal was called offside.

“It was a really even match,” head coach Nathan Moseley said. “One thing we talked about before the game was not to give them corner kicks because they’re very dangerous off of them and we gave them probably three or four at the end of the first half. Which they scored off of the last one.”

The Warriors lose five seniors after this season, concluding a very successful four years.

“The seniors have a lot to be proud of they went to state four years in a row which is a pretty strong showing.” Moseley said.
