Weekend in Review

 Basketball

Boys: The Warriors played their first district game on Saturday against the Fremont Tigers. The team picked up a 56-51 victory over the visiting Tigers. Cousins Trae and AJ Meeks combined for 39 points, and Anthony Bratton also scored in double figures. The next game for the team will be tonight against Omaha North at North. Girls: The Westside girls basketball team is heading to State! The Girls won the class A-5 district, beating Lincoln Southeast, and Papillion La-Vista South en route to the championship. The team’s first State Tournament game will be Thursday at 7 p.m. against Millard West. This is the first time in five years that the girls will be going to the State Tournament. Swimming

The Warrior girls team took 5th place at the State Swim Meet, while the boys took 18th. Elizabeth Amato-Hanner took first for the second straight year in the 100 back, she also set a state record. The girls also took 5th in the 200 medley relay and 5th in the 400 free as well. Paul O’Dell and Ashlee Wigness-Lindaman took sixth in their respective 100 fly consolation races. O’Dell also took 8th in the consolation of the 100 back. Kylene Abraham got third in the 100 free girls consolation, and Grace Porter took first in the 500 consolation. In the 200 free relay, the boys finished in 8th place, and the girls finished 2nd in the consolation. Maddie Rall took second in the 100 breast competition.

Hockey

Over the weekend the Westside Hockey Team beat the Lincoln Capitals 6-1, and Papio 2-0. Their next game is against Tri-City next Sunday.

Theater

Westside’s theater department wrapped up the production of Triangle this weekend. The play was about a 1911 fire that devastated the Triangle shirtwaist factory in New York that killed 146 workers.
