KB Building Services Keeps Rolling

The Westside summer baseball team, KB Building Services, played its first game in the American Legion World Series Thursday at 4 p.m. The team played against the Mid-South region champion out of Columbia, Tenn. A huge outing from starting pitcher Mike Waldron led the way for a 6-3 KB victory.

However, the team did not start the game how it wanted to. The team allowed a run in the top of the first due to two throwing errors and allowed another on an RBI single in the top of the second to go down 2-0. Then, the team responded with two runs in the bottom of the third to tie up the game. Class of 2014’s Luke Biggs walked to lead off the inning before he moved to second on a wild pitch. Then, class of 2014’s Jake Meyers singled to bring home Biggs. Then, Meyers score on another wild pitch to even the score 2-2.

In the very next inning, Tennessee took the lead on a single, putting them up 3-2.

But after the top of the fourth, Waldron shut the Tennessee team down. In the bottom of the fourth, the error bug finally bit Tennessee. Jake Meyers scored on a wild pitch, and Waldron hit a single to retake the lead. KB wasn’t done. Mike’s brother Matt brought in another run with an RBI single, followed by a Will Patterson RBI double. At the end of the bottom of the fifth KB had the lead 6-3. This would prove to be too much for the team from Tennessee, as Mike Waldron maintained the lead, finishing the rest of the nine innings, ultimately finishing with 125 pitches.

KB Building Services plays again today at 11 a.m. against the Western champion, Chico, Calif. The game will be live on ESPN3.com, and make sure to follow @westsidewired on Twitter for updates.
