Westside Athletes Commit to Continuing Careers on Signing Day

Today is national signing day for high school athletes across the country. Players, runners and at athletes of all sorts sign their letter of intent to attend and play sports in college. At westside, seven student-athletes signed to various colleges across the country.

The Girls soccer team had the majority of athletes sign today with four of their players putting the pen to paper. Midfielder Ryley Nolin signed her letter of intent to the University of Missouri Kansas City, goalkeeper Georgia Wimmer signed with Iowa State, a Big XII school in Ames, Iowa, forward Kaley Heinz signed to Concordia University, in Seward, Nebraska, and midfielder Sylvia Fehr signed to Augustana University, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Girls Volleyball had one senior sign her letter of intent this year. Jordan Bowen is headed to Limestone College, in Gaffney, South Carolina.

Maddie Jagels, is headed to Hasting College, in Nebraska after receiving a athletic scholarship for Cheerleading.

Boys Cross Country and Track and Field member, Christian Snawerdt signed with Iowa Central in Fort Dodge, Iowa. After signing, Snawerdt mentioned what it took for him to get to this point, and how it felt to finally sign the paper.

“I put in a ton of work throughout my four years here, each day I ran I tried to improve myself. [signing] felt very exciting, I am pumped for the next state of my career,” Snawerdt said.
