Football teams faces Lincoln Northeast in last regular season game
October 21, 2022
Coming off of an intense overtime victory against Millard South, Westside aims to carry their momentum into Lincoln Northeast tonight.
It was a back and forth affair at Phelps field last Thursday, one that was put to bed by a Ty Kiefer interception in overtime. What put Westside in a position to seal the game was a touchdown catch by junior tight end Trevor Spady.
“When coach Limongi called the play I knew I had an opportunity to get the ball,” Spady said. “Once I saw Anthony [Rezac] looking my way, I knew I had to make a play.”
It took a collective effort from the warriors to walk away from that game with a win, something that undoubtedly improves the players’ unity.
“I think it [the Millard South win] helped build a lot of trust,” junior defensive back/linebacker Teddy Rezac said. “You have to have faith in on both offense and defense that one of your guys are going to make a play.”
One thing Westside has an abundance of is playmakers, on both sides of the ball. Senior wide receiver Jaylen Lloyd showed out with 121 yards receiving, along with a five total touchdown effort from junior quarterback Anthony Rezac. The 7-1 Warriors will hit the road today to challenge the winless Lincoln Northeast Rockets in a pivotal district matchup.
“We’re looking to finish the season out strong,” Teddy Rezac said. “A district title is on the line, so we have to come out ready to play.”
