Softball team sprung back into action as they run ruled Central

August 26, 2022

The Westside Warriors softball team opened the 2022 season off with the crushing score of 11-0 against Omaha Central.

Westside started the season off hoping for a victory as last season was not one to remember, finishing 11-16. Head Coach TJ Edus expressed the team’s motto to her team as they played against the Eagles on Thursday night.

“Our team motto has always been row the boat,” Eadus said. With that, our upperclassmen are making sure we stay in line, like minded, staying together in the boat and in the direction we are wanting to go.”

Addison Leinen, a senior on this Warrior team, has been playing with since her freshman year.  She claims that the underclassmen have really stepped up this year, and will continue to help out offensively.

“This team has a lot of potential to do good things this year,” Leinen said. “Our freshman class has brought big and consistent hitters to our team which is what we were lacking last year. If we can have solid pitching I think we can make it pretty far into the season.”

The Warriors will continue to battle this season as they face off against Columbus at home this Thursday, Aug. 26.
